General UI errors:

Problem

Errors are generated when attempting to make changes or execute actions across the NinjaOne platform.

Cause

There can be multiple points of failure that would cause errors in the NinjaOne platform. Here are some of the most common:

  • Browser cache of NinjaOne console pages
  • Blocked cookies
  • Browser extensions
  • Corrupt profile data

Solution

Important Note: NinjaOne supports the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari. The instructions below are intended for Google Chrome and would need to be adapted for the browser in use. Further, these instructions are written based on the latest available version of Chrome at the time of publication. Menu options may change as newer versions of the application are released.

Clearing browser cache:

  1. At the top right of the browser, click the ellipsis (blobid0.png).
  2. Navigate to More tools >Clear browsing data.
  3. At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time.
  4. Next to Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files, select the checkboxes.
  5. Click Clear data.

Unblock cookies:

  1. At the top right of the browser, click the ellipsis (blobid0.png), and then select Settings.
  2. On the left, click Privacy and security, and then click  Site settings.
  3. Under Content, select Third-party cookies.
  4. Under Default behavior, select Allow third-party cookies.

Disable browser extensions:

  1. At the top right of the browser, click the ellipsis (blobid0.png), and then navigate to Extensions > Manage Extensions.
  2. Click toggle keys to disable the extensions.
Important Note: Extensions are automatically disabled when starting Chrome in Incognito Mode.

Corrupt profile data:

In most cases, resetting settings does the trick when there is a problem with the profile:

  1. At the top right of the browser, click the ellipsis (blobid0.png), and then Settings.
  2. At the bottom, click Advanced.
    • Chromebook, Linux, and Mac: Under Reset Settings, click Restore settings to their original defaults > Reset Settings.
    • Windows: Under Reset settings, click Restore settings to their original defaults, and then click Reset settings.

If resetting settings isn't enough, deleting the profile is another option:

  1. At the top right, click Profile (blobid2.png).
  2. Click Manage people (blobid3.png).
  3. Point to the person you want to remove.
  4. At the top right of the person, click More (blobid0.png) >Remove this person.
  5. Confirm by clicking Remove this person.

If the default profile is the culprit, it too can be deleted manually. This should be a last resort:

  1. Close the browser fully.
  2. On Windows, the folder is located here: %LOCALAPPDATA%GoogleChromeUser Data.
  3. On Mac, the folder is located here: ~/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome/.
  4. To keep a backup, rename the folder to Default .
  5. Close the folder and restart Chrome.
