Fixing Backup Error 314: Inconsistent File Detected During Integrity Check

Issue

An integrity check for a protected endpoint's backups fails with the error message, "INTEGRITY_CHECK_INCONSISTENT_FILE 314."

Environment

NinjaOne Backup

Cause

This error occurs when a file fails NinjaOne's hash check. The hash's value does not match that which is stored in the database.

Resolution

This error message means that the data on the Network Attached Storage (NAS) volume has become corrupted due to a failing drive or because an external program modified it. The best course of action is to restore the corrupted files from a redundant volume.

If no other copies of the data exist, you must delete the backup plan and run a new backup job. When recreating your backup plan, we recommend proactively ensuring that the drive isn't in a failure state and no external software is modifying files in the designated backup location.
