Q: What version of Splashtop is supported by NinjaOne?

  • A: NinjaOne supports Splashtop version 3.6.6.0, which also includes support for FIPS-compliant cryptographic modules. For more information, please refer to the following Splashtop resource: Splashtop FIPS Compliance - Support.

Q: Is Splashtop an option for end users?

  • A: No; at this time, end users cannot use Splashtop—end user activity is limited to providing confirmation to connect, which can be managed in the organization editor under NinjaOne Administration.

Q: How can I modify the audio settings for Splashtop connections?

  • A: Under the Splashtop Streamer application preferences, navigate to Settings > Sound.

Q: What is the difference between Splashtop for RMM and the Splashtop Streamer?

  • A: Splashtop for RMM that you must have installed on your own machine in order to initiate Splashtop connections using NinjaOne's Splashtop integration. The Splashtop Streamer is the listener-only software that NinjaOne deploys to your machine(s) when Splashtop is enabled at the organization level for said device(s).

Q: How can I put a password on my devices that have Splashtop?

  • A: From the Splashtop Streamer settings locally on a machine, navigate to Security > Require additional password to connect.

Q: What does it mean when I get the error "Your computer is already in a Splashtop session" when I attempt to connect to a device?

  • A: This means that another user is currently in a Splashtop session with this device. Only one session at a time is allowed per each device.

Q: Can I reboot into Safe Mode while using Splashtop?

  • A: No, it is not possible to reboot a device into Safe Mode with our Splashtop integration. While this can be done within the Splashtop console, this action is not available with the Splashtop license and integration that we use.

Q: How can I remove Splashtop from a single device or from a set of some devices under an organization?

  • A: You can disable Splashtop for a particular device or devices under the Settings tab for the device(s) in question. Check out Splashtop: Integration Guide for more information. To remove Splashtop for all devices in an organization, disabling Splashtop at the organization level will trigger the Splashtop Streamer to be uninstalled from all devices in that organization.

Q: What are the features and limitations of the "Lock keyboard and mouse" feature?

  • A: The lock feature locks the keyboard and mouse of the target device. Any other input devices such as touchscreens, audio input devices, barcode scanners, etc., cannot be disabled/blocked by this feature. The system hotkeys:  Ctrl + Alt + Delete, Windows key + L., etc., still work when the keyboard is locked. The computer will switch to lock screen or secure logon page (the computer is still secure on the page). Screen_Shot_2022-09-30_at_4.06.23_PM.png

Q: How does Splashtop Remote Print work?

  • A: Splashtop supports printing from a remote device to the printer(s) on the device initiating the connection. To do this, on the receiving device, open Splashtop Streamer download and install the Remote Print Driver from within the Settings. The device may need to be restarted after the remote print driver has been installed. Then, to print from the remote print driver, initiate a print from the receiving device and select the Splashtop printer. This should open a window on the initiating device and prompt the user to select which printer they would like to print to. Splashtop provides more information on this here.

Q: Does Splashtop have support for devices without monitors ("Headless" systems)?

  • A: Yes—Splashtop provides a software video driver that can effectively be used as a virtual video output. This can be used to support devices without attached monitors, or monitors that frequently turn off or go into a low-power mode. If you are experiencing any issues with this, Splashtop provides more information on this here.

Q: Why is Splashtop blurry/distorting graphics?

  • A: This could be caused by video rendering options on the device you are making the remote connection from.

To rectify: From the device you are making the remote connection, open the "Splashtop for RMM" desktop app on your machine > Options > Advanced > Video Rendering Options > Select "SDL with YUV" in the dropdown menu > Click OK to apply the setting.

Q: Why can't I copy/paste from the clipboard when connected to a Hyper-V VM?

Q: Does Splashtop offer a feature to see all monitors at once instead of only one, without having to manually switch monitors?

  • A: Not at this time. However, Ninja's TeamViewer app has this feature.
