Remote Tools

Remote tools allow you to access and manage different aspects of a device without having to access the machine itself or interrupt the end user. These tools can be accessed from the Tools tab on the device page. These tools are available on Windows, Mac, and Linux devices.

Remote Tools:

There are three or four different types of remote tools available at the device level depending on the device operating system. Task Manager, File Browser, and Service Manager are available for all OS types. Remote Registry is available for Windows devices only:

  2. Once you've selected a registry location, you'll see the options New, Rename, Delete, Refresh, and Copy Path at the top of the page.

There are additional options for New:
    • Key
    • String Value
    • DWORD (32-bit) Value
    • QWORD (64-bit) Value, Multi-String Value
    • Expandable String Value

  3. When a particular registry value is selected, the following options will appear on the right hand side:
    • Delete
    • Modify Value
    • Rename

Important Note: Ninja runs under the "System" context and the content of a registry value, e.g. "HKEY_CURRENT_PATH," changes depending on the user who's querying that path. That explains why the content of that specific folder changes when looking through NinjaOne and locally on the device, the same would change when comparing it between two different users on the same device locally.

    • CPU
    • Working Set
    • Memory
    • User Name
    • Path

  2. Select a task to manage these processes. Various options will appear for a selected task:
    • End Process
    • End Process Tree
    • Change Priority

  3. If you select End Process Tree, the process in question and any other processes that stemmed from it will end. A pop up window will show you which processes will end as a result of this action and prompt you to confirm.
