Q: Are groups dynamic?

  • A: Yes — the devices included in a group will reflect the current status of the devices in your Ninja environment.

Q: Can I run scheduled tasks against a group, or multiple groups?

  • A: Yes, Scheduled Tasks may be run against groups, devices, or organizations.

Q: Can I select particular devices and add them to a new group?

  • A: Currently, groups are created based off of filtering devices for specified criteria. There is not a way to simply select particular devices to place in a group.

Q: Can existing groups be copied?

  • A: No — existing groups cannot be copied. A new group will need to be created.

Q: Can I share groups with other users?

  • A: If you are a system administrator in your Ninja environment, your groups will automatically be shared with any other system administrators upon creation. However, due to permissions issues, groups cannot be shared between custom users, or between a custom user and system administrator(s).

Q: How can I filter for a parameter that is not listed in any of Ninja's native filters?

  • A: Device Notes can be utilized to filter for devices that are not included in Ninja's search and grouping functionality by default. For example, if you'd like to search for a specific server role (DNS server, IIS, etc.), you may add a note to the respective device(s) and then use the Notes filter to search by the content of the note(s).
