Custom SNMP Data Not Displayed in NMS

Issue

The system is no longer displaying custom SNMP data for a device in NinjaOne .

Environment

  • NinjaOne Network Management System (NMS)

Cause

This may occur if the SNMP community string or version does not match between the SNMP device and the NinjaOne UI.

Custom SNMP does not support SNMP V1.

Resolution

Download a free tool such as the Paessler SNMP tester. Then, follow these steps:

  1. Enter the SNMP device's local IP address..
  2. From the SNMP Version drop-down list, select SNMP v2c.
  3. Type the community string.
  4. In the Custom OID field, add an OID to test, then click Start in the Run Test panel.
  5. Look at the results in the Run Test panel. If the version or OID is supported and correct, it should return a value. The results will contain suggested troubleshooting steps if the version or OID is unsupported or incorrect.
  6. If this test succeeds, delete and re-add the credentials in NinjaOne.
