NinjaOne Apple MDM: Troubleshooting Cannot Use Apple ID to Make Purchases

Issue

The device is enrolled with Apple Business Manager (ABM), but syncing the policy results in the following error:

This Apple ID can't be used to make purchases.

Environment

  • NinjaOne Apple Mobile Device Management (MDM)
  • Apple iOS

Cause

This may be the result of distributing apps added to the policy through the Public App Store when the apps were already added through Apps and Books.

Resolution

If the apps are managed through Apps and Books, make sure you are adding the app to the NinjaOne policy via the Apps and Books tab, and not the Public App Store tab. Refer to NinjaOne Apple MDM: Apple Policy Management for more information.
