NinjaOne Mobile Device Management (MDM): Zero-Touch Enrollment For Android Devices

Topic

This article discusses how to enroll Android devices into NinjaOne Mobile Device Management (MDM) by using a zero-touch iframe.

Environment

  • NinjaOne Mobile Device Management (MDM)
  • Android OS

Description

Zero-touch enrollment allows devices to be enrolled directly into NinjaOne MDM straight out of the box. With zero-touch connections, technicians and users can link their zero-touch customer accounts with their NinjaOne tenant for configuration-free Android device assignment and enrollment.

Existing devices already registered with zero-touch will not have their existing configurations changed, and must be updated by the customer from the zero-touch customer portal.

Adding a New Zero-Touch Connection Configuration

Follow these steps to create a new configuration for mobile device enrollment.

  1. In NinjaOne, click Administration, then select Apps and click the NinjaOne MDM Android app.

Working with Existing Zero-Touch Connections

Zero-touch connection options reside in one of two places, depending on the action:

Configuration Options in the Zero-Touch Connections Screen

On the NinjaOne MDM Android page, find the connection name in the list. You can type the connection name into the search bar, or use the filters to sort the list by organization and location. Once found, click the connection, then select Connection details from the drop-down menu to return to the Zero-touch connection configuration dialog box.

From here, you can click the following action links:

  • Link another account: NinjaOne will restart the linking process, allowing you to link another account while retaining the same configuration settings.
  • Unlink: NinjaOne will unlink the selected account. This action is essential before deleting a zero-touch connection.
  • View devices in the zero-touch portal: Show devices linked through this connection configuration.
  • Edit Info: Update the support information displayed by the device during setup.

Connection Options on the NinjaOne MDM Android Page

Place your cursor over a zero-touch connection on the NinjaOne MDM Android page. A menu will appear containing the following options:

  • Edit name: This option allows you to change the connection's name.
  • Connection details: Click this option to return to the Zero-touch connection dialog box.
  • Delete: Click this selection to permanently delete the connection. Do not perform this action without first unlinking the device as described in the Configuration Options in the Zero-Touch Connections Screen section of this article.
When unlinking a device, you must first perform the aforementioned unlinking step before deleting the connection in the NinjaOne MDM Android page. If you delete the connection before unlinking, the connection will remain linked, and you will need NinjaOne Support assistance to dissociate the account.
