Description
Archiver is an add-on for NinjaOne SaaS Backup that enhances backup capabilities.
Archiver features
- Always-on email backup through journaling, as opposed to backups 12 times per day with SaaS Backup
- Three times per day Microsoft OneDrive backup as opposed to one time per day with SaaS Backup
- Multiple retention policies per domain, department, or even per person
- Available Private Teams chats backup
- Legal hold
- eDiscovery and Compliance Officer review
Archiver Overview
The archiver navigation menu is similar to that of NinjaOne SaaS backup, except the Retention Policy and Audit Log reside in the Compliance tab.
Always-on Email Backup With Journaling
With Journaling, every email received on the mail server is copied and sent to a separate "Journaling" mailbox (automatically set up for Microsoft 365, but with manual setup steps required for Gmail through the Google Workspace). Archiver automatically backs up this mailbox, ensuring that every item is always captured.

Setting a Retention Policy
Archiver retention policies offer considerable flexibility. The standard retention policy applies to everything in the organization, including email, OneDrive, calendars, tasks, and more.
You can create multiple retention policies for different departments or accounts within your organization, granularized to specific teams or individual accounts. This ability allows you to segment accounts that require specified retention periods for compliance purposes, while maintaining your chosen retention periods for main-line-of-business accounts. Private Teams Chat Backups
Private Microsoft Teams chat backups are available for an additional charge. You can enable them from the Features tab of the NinjaOne SaaS Backup portal. Read Backing Up Private Teams Chats for more information.
Compliance-required features
Archiver offers several features for working with compliance processes.
Legal Hold
Legal hold allows a company to preserve all compliance-related documents requested by a regulatory or governing body, regardless of any retention policies in place. The Archiver will retain any data placed in legal hold until you remove the hold. Refer to Preserving Backups With Legal Hold for more information.
eDiscovery
This feature allows users to create specific, detailed email searches to help provide information requested by regulatory officials, such as compliance officers. To learn more, check out Searching Backups With eDiscovery.
Department Sync
Department Sync lets you save and group-assign user attributes by department, eliminating the need to add each user manually. Refer to Department Sync for Archiver for more information.
