Patch Notes: People Edition – Meet Victor Guedes!

People Edition - Meet Victor Guedes!

Hey everyone – we’re bringing you another exciting look under the hood at team Ninja! This time, we’re hanging out with Victor Guedes – a critical member of our engineering team and one of the many product-focused Ninjas helping shape our award-winning (and incredibly iterative) automated endpoint management platform possible.

Creativity, curiosity, and collaboration are huge cultural cornerstones of our engineering team – and Victor embodies all three. When you’re working in hypergrowth, the ground is always moving and no two days on the job are ever truly the same. But whether you’re working out of an office or operating fully remote (like Victor, who’s based in Brazil), the opportunities to build, scale, and challenge yourself with likeminded individuals are plentiful at NinjaOne.

We sat down with Victor to learn about what he’s working on, how his love and passion for coding bleeds into his day job, and what goes into a day in the life.

Let’s get to know Victor!

Hey Victor! Tell us about yourself. What do you do at NinjaOne?
Hey, I’m Victor! I’m a senior front-end engineer at NinjaOne. I spend a lot of my time building tools for the team and making sure everything runs smoothly — like improving test coverage and keeping quality high. I’ve been involved in a variety of projects across the whole web dev team. People around here know me as the “test guy,” which I’m pretty proud of. 🙂

What’s your favorite part of being on the engineering team at Ninja?
It’s exciting to work at a company in hypergrowth. Things move fast here, the challenges keep evolving, and that’s where the real problems and opportunities show up. It’s the kind of environment where you put all the concepts you learned in school to the test. And when you figure out how to apply them in real-world situations, especially at this scale, it feels like you’re doing something meaningful and genuinely challenging.

One of the things I love most about being on the engineering team is how collaborative it is. Trust is a big part of our foundation. The managers believe in you to own your work and solve problems, but if you need help, there’s always someone around ready to support you. At other companies, it can sometimes feel like you’re either out there on your own or just doing what you’re told. But at NinjaOne, our opinions really matter. If we spot something that’s off, we’re encouraged to speak up (and people actually listen!). There’s space for real discussion and alignment here, and that makes a huge difference in how connected and motivated I feel.

Tell us more about what drew you to NinjaOne. What makes Ninja a great place to work?
Before joining NinjaOne, I was working on open-source projects in the crypto space. It was a great experience, but after a while, I felt like my career was getting a bit too niche. I wanted to try something new. Something that offered more stability and a broader range of challenges.

NinjaOne offered the perfect kind of environment. Another thing that drew me in was the scale of the projects and the impact NinjaOne has. When I saw the kinds of logos we support, I was like, “Wow, these are major companies with real, complex problems.” The idea of putting my skills to work in a way that directly affects brands I admire was incredibly exciting. That mix of meaningful work, big impact, and a stable, supportive environment is what made choosing NinjaOne an easy decision.

What does a day in the life of Victor look like?
Every day looks a little different, but I usually start my mornings by catching up — reviewing what the team’s been working on and jumping into conversations or brainstorming ideas. Once I’ve warmed up, I dive into the code. I try to block off a solid couple of hours to go deep on whatever I’m building. Then we have our daily standup, which is where I bring up any blockers or questions that came up during that focus time. It’s a great chance to surface challenges and get quick feedback.

Afternoons are usually about pushing solutions forward. Either fixing what came up earlier or collaborating in meetings to align on how we can best tackle things. Throughout the day, for every new task or feature I work on, I try to ask myself: What’s the best way to solve this? How can we maximize value here? What’s the cleanest, most impactful approach? That mindset really drives how I work and helps me stay focused on what matters.

What are you passionate about outside of your career?
Even outside of work, I’m really passionate about coding and solving problems. I spend a few hours most days after work studying and exploring new technologies, learning concepts that not only help me grow professionally but also drive some of the personal projects I’m curious about. Tech is always evolving, and I love staying ahead of the curve – finding new ways to add value to the work I do.

Another thing I love about coding is that it gives me total creative freedom. It’s one of the few things where the only real limit is your imagination. I love pushing myself to think in new ways, and I feel really lucky that my passion overlaps so much with my career. I get to do what I love, both at work and in my free time.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my friends, my family, my dogs, and my wife! Whether that’s hanging out or going on little trips together. I’m a big Disney fan, a rollercoaster addict, and when it comes to football, that’s basically my religion. I’m a die-hard Vasco da Gama supporter!
