Patch Intelligence AI – Making a Difference Since Day One

Patch Intelligence AI

When NinjaOne launched Patch Intelligence AI on October 24, 2024, it laid the groundwork for the platform to enhance and further automate the NinjaOne Patch Management solution. This feature debuted on our 6.0 platform and product updates and has since become a significant contributor to customers’ success.

A milestone moment: Patch Intelligence AI live stream

On October 25, 2024, during a live stream demonstration, NinjaOne Senior Product Manager Chris Williams shared some key functionality of the then newly released AI-driven tool. He explained that AI-driven sentiment analysis improves patch decision-making, streamlines Windows patching with contextual insights, and ensures smoother updates by proactively identifying potential risky patches.

One of the key highlights during the live webinar was the testimonial of NinjaOne customer Dave Szpunar, CEO and owner of Servant 42, an MSP based just outside Indianapolis. He experienced a bottleneck when end users were encountering frequent application crashes and black screen issues when logging into Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) sessions, particularly among non-admin users. These problems were linked to Windows update KB5044273, which was intended to fix them but instead introduced new complications.

Thanks to Patch Intelligence AI, the problem was identified, and KB5044273 was flagged as problematic. This helped Szpunar’s team to:

  • Quickly identify the root cause
  • Communicate the issue and resolution path to affected clients
  • Resolve the problem across their customer environments before it escalated

Szpunar said the patch sentiment flag for KB5044273 showed him these problems and the resolution path, enabling his team to explain and resolve the problem quickly across his customer base.

Release 9.0

NinjaOne’s latest release introduced AI-Assisted Patch Approvals to further enhance Patch Intelligence AI by:

  • Automatically identifying and flagging high-risk or problematic patches before deployment through existing policies.
  • Preventing known bad patches from being applied reduces the need for manual rollbacks across environments.
  • Allowing technicians to mark patches with ‘Known Issues’ as ‘Manual’ or ‘Reject’ for investigation and delayed application until cleared.
