Patch Notes: People Edition — Meet Mikey Botta!

by Team Ninja

NinjaOne just wrapped a standout 2025, and as we head into 2026, we’re continuing to grow our team and build momentum.

One of the Ninjas playing a key role in leading our recruitment efforts as we grow and scale globally is Mikey Botta. From attracting top-tier talent to helping scale our culture, Mikey ensures we’re constantly bringing the best, brightest, most inquisitive and collaborative minds onto the team — in other words, the truest Ninjas.

A pop music lover, fitness enthusiast, and fearless leader, Mikey is central to NinjaOne’s growth. We sat down with Mikey to learn more about his role, what he enjoys most about it, and what he looks for when searching for new Ninjas.

Let’s get to know Mikey.

Hey Mikey! Tell us about yourself. What do you do at NinjaOne?

Hey! I’m Mikey. I’m on the recruiting team, based here in Austin. I’ve been at NinjaOne for over 2 years now and cover recruitment primarily for the GTM/Sales organizations. Notably, I cover recruitment for almost all of Australia, our SDRs in Austin and Tampa, some Account Executives, some Marketing, and plenty more. I’m originally from New Jersey but made my way down to Texas in 2022. Yeehaw?

In your words, what makes a great Ninja?

A great Ninja goes 110%. There is no shortage of opportunities to make an impact here — especially on our sales teams. It’s inspiring to see the accomplishments of our best Ninjas, and our business keeps growing because of their hard work. I’m hiring our next generation of SDRs right now, and the coolest part is that many of the SDR Managers and Account Executives they’ll be working with are the same people I originally hired on as SDRs way back when. They gave their 110%, and that’s how they continue to level up. The opportunities here are endless, and the best Ninjas are always getting after them.

When you think about adding new Ninjas to the team, what’s a quality or skillset that stands out to you as a recruiter?

Since I focus heavily on sales recruitment, specifically SDRs, a quality I keep an eye out for is high energy and enthusiasm. I believe our awesome company culture, record-breaking sales months, and career growth opportunities all start with people who bring genuine excitement to the table. In turn, I’m always looking for folks who won’t just fit into our culture but will actively energize it and fuel it.

What’s your favorite part about what you do?

A core part of my job is getting to know dozens of new people each week, which I love. Their life stories, careers, struggles, ambitions, and more. But my favorite part comes after that: being the one to guide them into the next chapter of their lives. There are so many faces I see around the office each day that bring me back to those initial conversations, when, perhaps, moving to our Austin office was just an idea, or someone was looking for a new start, or even their first foray into the business world. And now, seeing them here learning and growing in their careers is really fulfilling for me.

What is the most important thing you’ve learned at NinjaOne so far?

I’ve come to learn a lot about myself here. I’ve always considered myself to be an introvert, but here it’s my job to quite literally talk to people all day long. And I love it! NinjaOne has helped me fully realize how much I enjoy actively working with people, especially compared to my past, where I’d been fairly isolated working in a lab (fun fact: I studied Biology in college). Although my Organic Chemistry classes were a delight — and I’ll be an asset if we ever pivot to biotech 😉 — IT and Recruiting are the perfect fit for me.

NinjaOne’s gearing up for another big year. What are you most looking forward to in 2026?

I’m looking forward to seeing us surpass more major milestones as a company. One thing I love to mention in interviews is that every day at Ninja is different. You might open your laptop on a random Monday and see some big announcement like, “We’ve just secured $500M in funding and hit a $5 billion valuation!” Or “We’re acquiring another company for the first time!” There are so many moments to get excited about, but that’s just 2025…let’s see what 2026 has in store!

What are you passionate about outside of your career?

I’m big on pop music. My Apple music replay said I listened to 105,000 minutes of music in 2025, which is apparently 4.5 hours of music, each day! A good chunk of that listening time probably stems from being at the gym or running on the trail downtown. I’m pretty passionate about fitness as well.

Ok Mikey, last question: What’s a quote or mantra that you live by?

Partially due to a lack of creativity, partially due to Mikey rhyming with Nike, I’ve co-opted their slogan: Just do it. It’s a great mantra to live by; until you actually do the thing, you can’t know what the outcome will be or what opportunities you might miss. It helps to get me out of my comfort zone.

That’s all for this Patch Notes: People Edition! In the meantime, do you have any questions on open roles — or are you curious about becoming a Ninja yourself? Check out our careers page here: www.ninjaone.com/careers. We’re always looking to grow our team.
