Overview

Prettl Electronics is part of the internationally operating Prettl Group and is one of Europe’s leading electronic manufacturing services (EMS) providers. They serve customers in the healthcare, automotive, industrial, and smart home industries with high-quality electronic solutions.

As a full-service partner, they accompany the entire product lifecycle, from consulting and development, printed circuit board (PCB) assembly and electronics manufacturing, to testing, assembly, and series handover. They combine cutting-edge manufacturing technologies with certified quality processes.

With multiple European production sites, Prettl Electronics produces over five million electronic assemblies annually. EMS thrives on efficiency and precision: powerful IT systems and digitalized production lines ensure that processes run stable, quality remains measurable at all times, and customers are supplied reliably.

Challenge

Tool sprawl risks production downtime

Before introducing NinjaOne, Prettl relied on manual processes and scattered tools, a setup that slowed down operations. Separate tools for endpoint management, ticketing, and backup, and manually managed mobile devices created painful workarounds for technicians who had to jump between tools or physically visit devices on the shop floor. In short, Prettl’s previous IT ops setup was a resource drain.

Their disjointed tool setup also increased IT security risks: critical patches were missing on devices, and the lack of overview made it hard to identify issues. To improve operations, Prettl needed a reliable IT system for its production machines and equipment, a way to centralize IT ops, and the ability to leverage automation — it needed a change.

Solution: Why Prettl Electronics Chose NinjaOne

Consolidated IT that simplifies workflows and enhances security

“NinjaOne was an opportunity to replace some of our tools. In the end, we replaced them all and now do everything with NinjaOne,” says IT manager Thomas Juschten.

The team deployed NinjaOne across all endpoints within a month. “The biggest benefit of a consolidated solution is clearly time savings,” says Juschten. “Previously, our technicians had to manually patch each production machine on-site. Today, we manage everything centrally and automatically via the NinjaOne platform. This saves up to six hours per technician per week.”

Results & Outcomes

Prettl’s lack of endpoint visibility created security risks, which are now a thing of the past. “With NinjaOne, we significantly increased the security of our entire IT infrastructure. All patches and applications are up to date, and the CrowdStrike integration ensures endpoint protection. We identify vulnerabilities, take corrective action, and monitor endpoints in a central overview. We currently have 95% patch compliance across all devices,” says Juschten.

Prettl’s production machines run on Windows and Linux, and they use NinjaOne MDM to turn Android devices into scanners for their ERP system. Juschten implemented this by deploying an MDM policy that runs devices in kiosk mode, which makes only one app available for use. Production employees now use it for scanning. “The policy was quick to set up and works perfectly,” says Juschten.

Seamless integration of NinjaOne Ticketing, Backup, and Remote for frictionless IT

Before NinjaOne, Prettl’s technicians had to call their production colleagues and guide them through a tedious manual process to get a remote connection. Nowadays, they save time with NinjaOne’s integrated platform. “NinjaOne Ticketing and Remote complement each other perfectly in manufacturing,” continues Juschten. Production workers create tickets from the shop floor, and technicians connect remotely from within the ticket. “It’s truly seamless and resolves problems in production instantly,” says Juschten.

For backup functionality, Juschten and his team switched from Acronis to NinjaOne Backup. Previously, each manufacturing location had its own backup server or storage; now they have it all integrated in NinjaOne. Juschten explains: “Having the ability to mount backups and restore files directly from NinjaOne — and immediately act on it using NinjaOne Remote — has transformed how we handle recovery. Everything happens in one interface, which saves time, reduces complexity, and improves our overall efficiency.”

Saving costs without sacrificing efficiency

Prettl has replaced eight tools with NinjaOne, resulting in license cost savings of around 20 percent. In addition to these cost savings, the team also benefits from full endpoint transparency, a high degree of automation, and significantly improved IT security. Juschten confirms: “You only have one interface, patching is automatic, you save time, you’re more productive, and you save on license costs. The bottom line: We’re more efficient, faster, and overall better positioned, thanks to NinjaOne.”
