At NinjaOne, we’ve grown in big ways in the past year – including through our acquisition of data protection leader Dropsuite. This milestone not only folded a talented group of new global Ninjas into our team, but also significantly expanded our engineering and product capabilities in one of the areas most critical to our customers’ success: SaaS backup.
As the digital world becomes even more interconnected, helping our customers stay resilient is more important than ever. NinjaOne Backup is central to that mission. With fast, secure, and fully integrated backup and recovery, we’re empowering IT teams not just to protect their data and their business (when outages and incidents inevitably occur), but to safeguard their peace of mind! One of the incredible new Ninjas helping lead that charge is Ferdi Rahmadi.
Let’s get to know Ferdi
Ferdi, hi! Tell us about yourself and your role at NinjaOne. What do you do here? Tell us a bit about your journey.
Hi! I’m Ferdi. I’m based in the Bandung Office in Indonesia. I’m an Engineering Manager at NinjaOne, where I get to work with a bunch of our amazing Engineering Leads, Senior Engineers, and Product Managers to make sure our customers’ data stays safe and their businesses keep running smoothly. I started my journey in the backup world about seven years ago at Dropsuite as a Software Engineer (and joined NinjaOne via its acquisition of Dropsuite earlier this year!). Since then, I’ve been part of several teams at the company before taking on the challenge of leading our SaaS backup team, which I’m still managing today.
What do you love most about working in engineering? What keeps you motivated and inspired in your day-to-day work?
The exceptional growth we’ve experienced — both at Dropsuite and now at NinjaOne — always pushes me to think about how we can build systems for customers that scale to the next level. At the same time, I’m constantly energized by the amazing colleagues who support and collaborate with me every step of the way. It makes coming to work every day all the more fun and rewarding.
What’s one lesson you’ve learned from your time leading or working in engineering that has stuck with you?
I’ve learned that chasing the perfect solution usually slows things down. It’s way better to focus on finding an optimal one — something that works, scales well, and gets the job done in a way that drives meaningful outcomes for end users. Progress beats perfection every time.
How do you and your team define success in your work?
When we hear that our customers love our product, or that they were able to retrieve their data and get their business back up and running after an outage or incident, that’s what we call a success. Being able to offer customers a sense of stability — and help them recover quickly in their most challenging moments — is the most rewarding part of what we do.
If you could give one piece of advice to engineers just starting in their careers, what would it be?
Be an engineer who’s known for solving problems, not just for knowing things.
What are you passionate about outside of your career?
Outside of work, I love playing guitar and sometimes writing my own songs. I’m also a big fan of watching anime and getting lost in a good book — it’s my favorite way to relax and recharge.
