NinjaOne Supports Continuous Backup Protection Following Upcoming Microsoft Exchange Online Changes

by Team Ninja

Microsoft plans to retire Exchange Online’s Exchange Web Services (EWS) in October 2026. NinjaOne has proactively prepared for this change in its SaaS Backup solution to ensure continued backup coverage for customer data.

NinjaOne continues to work closely with Microsoft to maintain an easy, reliable backup experience.

This change applies only to Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online. On-premises Exchange Server is not impacted.

Why Microsoft is making this change

Following the Midnight Blizzard attack in 2024, Microsoft prioritized efforts to remove EWS dependencies from its applications and improve security. NinjaOne has already taken steps to maintain service continuity and security and is preparing for any required actions in the future.

NinjaOne’s engineering and product teams have collaborated with Microsoft throughout the planning process. With security as a priority, we are aligning with Microsoft’s modern authentication patterns and least-privilege access during the migration from EWS to Microsoft Graph APIs.
