Three Methods to Disable Windows Developer Mode In Developer mode, users can access advanced features used in app development and debugging. However, regular end-users typically don’t need these features for their work, and IT admins would disable Developer Mode when deploying endpoints to such users. Here's how to do just that. Method 1 - Settings The first and easiest method to try is through Settings, ideal for small-scale deployment. Head to Settings, Update & Security, and For Developers. Under this section, simply toggle Developer Mode off. Restart your PC or sign off to save changes. Method 2 - Group Policy Editor The next method is via the Group Policy, generally used in domain or policy-based deployment. Run Group Policy, and navigate to Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, and App Package Deployment. Look for “Allow development of Windows Store apps and install them from an integrated development environment (IDE),” double-click it, and set it to Disabled. Click OK to save changes. Method 3 - Registry Editor Finally, if you don’t have Group Policy, you can use the Registry Editor. However, note that unintentional changes to the Registry can cause issues, so be sure to back up your Registry before making any changes. Run Registry Editor, and navigate to: Find or create a DWORD (32-bit Value) named AllowDevelopmentWithoutDevLicense. Then, double-click it and set the value to 0. By disabling Developer mode, users can find comfort and ease in working on a simple, good-old-fashioned Windows system.
