What is the “Learn about this picture” Icon With the Windows Spotlight feature, Windows showcases eye-catching, scenic photographs as desktop wallpapers. Somewhere on the desktop is an icon labeled “Learn about this picture,” which users can click on to discover the featured photos, location, and related information. However, if you don't want this shortcut on your screen, you can always remove it using one of these methods. Methods to Remove or Add the “Learn about this picture” Icon Method 1: Change the Background The simplest way is to change the background. Right-click on the desktop and select Personalization. Then, under Background, choose Picture or Solid color instead of Windows Spotlight. Doing so will remove the “Learn about this picture” icon and disable the Spotlight desktop background feature. Method 2: Remove via Context Menu Another way is to right click the icon and select Delete or Remove from desktop, although this option is only available in some Windows 11 builds, This method hides the icon only for the current user. The next three methods involve some scripts and other technical steps, so be sure you have administrator rights and access to the Group Policy Management Console and other scripting tools. Method 3: Registry Editor Next is the Registry Editor method. Run the Registry Editor and navigate to this path shown onscreen. Then right click on the right pane and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value. Label this new DWORD under the name you see onscreen, and set the Value data to 1 to hide the icon or 0 to show it. Method 4: PowerShell Let's move on to PowerShell. Open PowerShell and right-click to select Run as administrator. Run this command shown onscreen. Like with Registry Editor, set the value at the end of the command to 1 to hide or 0 to show. Method 5: Group Policy Editor And finally, there is Group Policy Editor. Open the Group Policy Management Editor and navigate to User Configuration > Preferences > Windows Settings > Registry. Right-click and select New > Registry Item, and configure the following. Apply this policy to the appropriate user groups or OUs (Organizational Units) and run gpupdate /force to apply changes immediately.
