Why Hide the Mini Menu on Certain Websites in Edge When you highlight text on a webpage in Microsoft Edge, a Mini-Menu appears, allowing users to execute certain actions, such as searching, translating, and sharing content. However, this menu can become distracting on certain websites and web-based applications, especially in environments with carefully designed workflows or interfaces. Fortunately, Microsoft Edge allows administrators and users to control where the Mini Menu appears. Methods to Hide the Mini Menu on Specific Websites in Edge For individual users, you can simply open the site where you want to conceal the menu, highlight a text from the page, click on the three dots, and choose “Hide menu” > “Hide menu for this site” or “Hide menu always.” Users can also edit the Registry Editor to configure the mini menu. Run the Registry Editor, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\ Microsoft\Edge, and find the key named QuickSearchShowMiniMenu. Then, modify the value to 0 to hide or 1 to show. You can also configure Registry keys by running .reg files. Simply copy-paste one of these two scripts into Notepad, save as a .reg file, and double-click on it to merge. To disable: Or to enable: For administrators managing multiple devices, you can execute commands on PowerShell or configure your Group Policy settings to control the Mini Menu behavior. For the PowerShell method, run this command in the Windows Terminal, and then restart Edge to apply the change. For the latter, open the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC), and navigate to User Configuration > Preferences > Windows Settings > Registry. Then, right-click and select New > Registry Item and configure the following. After that, click OK, link the GPO to the target OU, and run ‘gpupdate /force’ on the Windows Terminal. Restart Edge to apply changes. Hiding the mini-menu can help create a less distracting user experience.
