In this video, we'll show you how to share files over a network in Windows using simple built-in tools like File Explorer, nearby sharing and network discovery. For more tech content like this Method one, file Explorer, press Windows plus E to open file Explorer, right, click the folder you want to share. Then go to properties sharing tab. Tap the share button, expand the dropdown menu, and click everyone. Click add and go. To the permission level column, set permissions. Choose Read to only Browse in open files. Choose read slash write to browse, view, open edit and delete files. Click share Done Method two, nearby sharing Press, windows plus I to open settings. Go to system nearby sharing. Enable nearby sharing, and set your sharing preference. Common preferences are my devices only, or everyone nearby. Next press Windows plus E to open file. Explore then right click the file you want to share and tap share. Under nearby share, select the receiving device method three, network Discovery. The final method is via network discovery, which requires you to have administrator privileges. To use this method, press Windows plus I to open settings. Go to network and internet advanced to network settings. Advanced sharing settings choose the appropriate network profile. Public network will disable discovery features for security purposes and should be used in spaces with public wifi. Private network will enable discovery features for easier file sharing and is applicable for homes and offices. Once you've chosen the correct network profile, enable network discovery and file and printer sharing.
