How to Enable Advanced Bluetooth Devices Discovery in Windows Let your Windows PC find more Bluetooth devices! Advanced Bluetooth Devices Discovery, Explained When you turn on your laptop Bluetooth, it automatically searches for any available devices to connect within its vicinity. However, it doesn't detect all of them. By default, Windows only detects so-called common devices such as headphones, mice, and keyboards. It does not display uncommon devices on its list, such as CO₂ monitors, label printers, or weight scales. One way to see a full list of available devices is by enabling advanced Bluetooth device discovery to advanced mode, which you can do in three different ways. Three methods to activate Advanced mode. The first and simplest method is through settings. Navigate to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Devices and click More Bluetooth settings. Once the Bluetooth Settings window is opened, go to the options tab. Check Allow Bluetooth devices to find this PC and alert me when a new Bluetooth device wants to connect. Save changes by clicking apply and okay. Another method is through the Registry Editor. Run Registry Editor and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows \CurrentVersion\Bluetooth rom there, you should find the EnableDiscovery key. If it doesn't exist, create one by right clicking the parameters key and selecting New > DWORD (32-bit) Value. Name it as AdvancedDiscoveryMode. Double click this key. Set the value data to 1 to enable it, and click okay. Finally, if you're managing multiple devices, try PowerShell. Simply run PowerShell as administrator and type this command to enable it. Whichever method you choose though, note that enabling Advanced Mode can drain your battery power more quickly and leave your device exposed to vulnerabilities, so don't forget to disable it when not in use by enabling Bluetooth device discovery to advanced mode.
