Whether you're an MSP or an end user trying to navigate Microsoft subscription changes, understanding the new commerce experience or NCE is essential. We'll tell you all you need to know about it here. Before we begin, be sure to subscribe to Ninja One's IT Video Hub for more tech content like this. What is the new commerce experience? The NCE is Microsoft's evolution of the cloud solution provider CSP model designed to simplify licensing complexity, offer discounts for long-term commitments and position CSPA viable alternative to traditional enterprise agreements originally launched for Azure in 2019. The NCE now includes Microsoft 365, dynamics 365 power platform, and Windows 365 seat based subscriptions. The new commerce experiences subscription models. The NCE introduces a simplified per seat licensing approach with three core term options, each with unique benefits and trade-offs. Monthly plans offer maximum flexibility, perfect for clients with fluctuating needs, but come at a premium price. 12 month plans lock in pricing with the option to be billed monthly or annually. You can increase seat counts, but not decrease them for those committed to long-term stability. 36 month plans allow customers to lock in pricing for three years with flexible billing options. Benefits of the new commerce experience. The NCE isn't just about higher prices. It brings real benefits for MSPs. Predictable revenue, flexible term options, improved subscription management and simplified license upgrades and add-ons. In addition, Microsoft updated its cancellation policy. Partners now have a limited cancellation window to adjust or reduce seats after purchase up from the previous 72 hours. Charges are now prorated, giving partners more room for post-purchase adjustments. What does this mean for MSPs? So what does this mean for MSPs? It's a major transition, but one that brings new opportunities to streamline operations, lock in margins, and offer scalable solutions to clients. If you haven't already, now is the time to consider auditing your existing licenses and eliminate any unused seats or redundant features. In the end, as Microsoft continues to refine its licensing model via the NCE, we recommend adjusting to these changes and making use of new features to streamline your IT operations.
