A hardware hash, also called a hardware id, is a unique identifier generated from several components such as the motherboard and bios. A hardware hash is required by Microsoft 3 6 5 to verify devices when enrolling them in Windows autopilot. However, there are devices that aren't automatically registered requiring manual hardware hash capture. Why manually obtain a hardware hash? Some manufacturers register devices automatically. However, doing manual retrieval makes sure that your device is compatible with legacy or virtual machines. Your enrollment process is in control and ensures only authorized devices are registered. Options to customize the configuration settings applied to each device are open and tracking and management of it assets are kept orderly. Four ways to obtain a hardware hash Microsoft Configuration Manager. You may opt to use a configuration manager to extract a hardware hash. With these steps, open the Configuration Manager console.
